Since opening in 2010 Throwing Buns has become a much-loved Abingdon institution, which is set to continue under the new owners, Stefanos and Olga. They visited Abingdon with their toddler Olivia in October last year and instantly fell in love with both the town and the café.
“You can feel Abingdon’s history in the market place and Throwing Buns fits into the town’s culture so well, I knew we’d be happy here.” Olga said of their first visit. They moved here almost immediately and were up and running within a couple of months.
Stefanos brings a wealth of experience to the role having spent 25 years working in the food and beverage industry, both in the UK and in his native Cyprus. “Good food and good coffee are the key to a successful café but it won’t work without a friendly and homely atmosphere. Throwing Bun’s amazing location and ambience mean that with the best coffee and fresh local ingredients we can maintain the great standing that this little café has in the town.”
Also, continuing from before Throwing Buns can offer catering for parties and meetings and also could be an evening venue for events. Stephanos added “We are also hoping to hold a few “taster” events where I can showcase the fabulous Cypriot cuisine”. Keep checking their website and social media for updates.
